In Georgia’s classes, you will be guided by a Level 3 Iyengar Yoga teacher with more than 25 years of experience. Her teaching is precise, thoughtful and caring, shaped by years of working with students of all ages, backgrounds and levels of practice.

Each day follows a natural rhythm. Morning sessions are active and energising, while evenings focus on pranayama and the restorative side of yoga. Her classes build progressively, with each one flowing from the last to create a complete and connected experience.

Georgia teaches with warmth and compassion, creating an atmosphere where you feel both supported and encouraged. Her ability to guide mixed-level groups means everyone is challenged at the right level, often discovering new strength and space. You'll leave her classes feeling renewed, balanced and deeply energised.

Georgia is a highly qualified Iyengar Yoga teacher with more than 25 years of practice. She has lived and taught in Australia, England, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Brazil and now Portugal, where she is based. She holds Junior Intermediate Level 3 and has studied with senior Iyengar teachers worldwide, including periods of study in Pune with B. K. S. Iyengar, his daughter Geeta and his son Prashant.

Georgia understands the power of yoga to heal. Her teaching has a strong restorative and remedial focus, always meeting the individual needs of each student. The style is clear, calm and quietly encouraging, with alignment at the heart of every class.

At Ulpotha, mornings are active and precise. You will work safely into postures, learn how alignment supports freedom and finish feeling energised rather than strained. Evenings turn to restoration and tailored support, with time to address any personal concerns. Pranayama is included across the week.

Georgia believes the depth of yoga comes from a steady mind and honest self-observation. She brings warmth and humour to the room, and teaches both beginners and general level students. She is also a mother of three and practised throughout each pregnancy.

What you will experience with Georgia:

  • Intelligent alignment that makes practice feel stable and spacious
  • Restorative and remedial sequencing with thoughtful use of props
  • Personalised guidance and practical modifications
  • Pranayama to settle the nervous system

Her classes in Ulpotha will include active morning classes ensuring correct alignment within the pose, leaving you feeling energised and not strained, which is the hallmark of the Iyengar style. The evening classes will have a more restorative focus and giving a chance to focus on any individual issues you'd like addressed. Pranayama will also be included during the retreat.

While deeply understanding that the depth of yoga comes with focusing the mind and learning the art of self observation and reflection, she manages to teach the asanas with joy and humour. She teaches both beginner and general levels. She has three children and practiced yoga through all pregnancies.

Visiting therapist

Boris Gonzalez

Boris Gonzalez

Boris is from Santiago, Chile, and first started practising Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga in 2000. In 2002 he began training in different massage therapies, studying Ayurvedic massage in Mysore (India). He returned to India many more times to continue specialising in Ayurvedic massage and for additional yoga training.

His love of bodywork led him to later study different massage techniques across the world including Chuaka and Body Harmony in Santiago (Chile), Sports Massage in Atlanta (USA), Traditional Thai and Thai Oil Massage in Chiang Mai (Thailand).

With this extensive background, Boris has developed his own intuitive massage technique which unlocks one's energies through a physical therapy acting on the skeletal structure, muscle and tissue. The result is to liberate fears and burdens that are held inside the physical body, allowing it to recover its natural flexibility and resulting in pain relief and relaxation.
